About Dean
Dr. Monali Shah is a distinguished academician, clinician, and administrator with over 25 years of experience in dental education, clinical practice, research, and institutional development. She has been associated with K.M. Shah Dental College & Hospital since 2002 and has contributed significantly to the academic growth, clinical excellence, and quality advancement of the institution.
Previously serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Periodontology since 2018. As Head of Department, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening postgraduate training and mentoring students and young clinicians in advanced surgical procedures, case selection, and clinical decision-making. She has actively conducted hands-on training programs and academic activities to enhance clinical competency and research orientation among students and faculty members.
An accomplished Periodontist and Implantologist, Dr. Monali possesses extensive expertise in advanced periodontal and implant surgical procedures. Her clinical areas of specialization include implant placement and restoration, implant site development, ridge augmentation, periodontal regeneration, soft tissue management, peri-implant tissue management, guided bone regeneration using biomaterials, and laser applications in periodontology and implantology. She has successfully managed routine as well as complex implant and regenerative cases with a strong emphasis on evidence-based and patient-centered care.
She has authored more than 65 publications in national and international journals and has achieved over 850 citations with an h-index of 15, reflecting the academic impact of her work. Her key research interests include periodontal regeneration, PRF and regenerative therapies, bone
grafting, implant site development, and clinical outcomes in periodontal and implant procedures.
She has contributed to NAAC and NABH-related quality assurance activities and has participated in various institutional development initiatives aimed at strengthening academic standards and patient care systems. Her administrative experience and collaborative leadership approach have enabled effective coordination across departments and academic units.
She is an active member of several professional organizations including the Indian Society of Periodontology (ISP), Indian Society of Oral Implantologists (ISOI), and Indian Dental Association (IDA). Through these associations, she continues to contribute to professional development and advancement within the field of dentistry.
