Public Health Dentistry

The Department of Public Health Dentistry conducts outreach programs and provides the services of oral health education, screening, treatment and referral. The mobile dental van is a dental hospital on wheels; it serves to provide dental care at door steps for people from remote villages and to sections of society with inadequate access to dental care.

Gramin Dant Arogya Yojana

Village Adoption Program of the Department of Public Health Dentistry:

The Department of Public Health Dentistry has adopted the villages- Sankheda, Kothav, Segwa, Prathampura and Anandi under the Gramin Dant Arogya Yojana Village.  “Swasth Gaon..Samrudh Gaon” has been the motto of this program.

The Gramin Dant Arogya Yojana Village Adoption Program is a unique program to improve the oral health of the rural community. The program is continual in nature and provides sustained dental care for the rural people. The highlights of this program are as follows:

“Village Adoption” concept increased community participation and increased the level of credibility among the village people.

While previously print material, lectures were the main modes of health education, in village adoption program, interactive and community- appealing methods such as street plays are performed.

Screening programs have been empowered by placing priority on the most important needs of the community

The oral care is provided in a time monitored way. Needs assessment and outcome evaluation of program are accomplished through systematic community surveys as part of the Gramin Dant Arogya Yojana Village Adoption Program.

 

School Adoption Program

The Department has adopted schools apart from the schools of Adopted villages. To name a few are- Jai Hind Vidhyalaya, Savli, Shannen School, Fateh ganj, Anandi High School, Anandi, Dabhoi.

Health education programs, Preventive, treatment and blanket referralsconducted periodically.

 

Oral Health Care for Special Groups

 

Patients with special needs viz. differently- abled children and adults, psychiatric patients, prisoners also are catered to by the Department of Public Health Dentistry by on site preventive and therapeutic care. Basic health services are provided to these groups to uplift their quality of life.
